The Wolseley in London

After Boxing Day, we spent a couple of days in London. The trip was a Christmas gift for both of us! The first place to eat in London was The Wolseley, "a café-restaurant in the grand European tradition," located at Piccadilly, next to the Ritz Hotel. It was one of the restaurants that some online sources have chosen as London's best historic restaurants.
The building was constructed in 1921 as a car showroom for Wolseley Motors according to wiki. We were there for breakfast, specifically, their famous Eggs Benedict. Somehow I expected an elegant white-table-cloth setting and a quiet atmosphere, but I was wrong. It was simply a busy cafe. We were sandwiched by next tables both sides. The restaurant was very crowded and noisy. Well, I could say it was lively.
I ordered a small (an egg) Eggs Benedict. J did a large (two eggs) Eggs Benedict. The dish was minimalist and tasted actually very good. The poached egg was perfectly poached. Hollandaise sauce had a nice consistency and a right balance of lemon. It wasn't "eggy" at all. Ham was simple and tender, not salty or smokey. The best part was English muffin at the bottom. It was lovely buttery and heavenly fluffy, easily absorbing runny yolk and sauce and being cut along with ham.
For Eggs Benedict, let's go to The Wolseley!
