Mormorguglhupf from Demel

Viennese delights at home! We went back to Demel for our last day shopping and bought some wonderful treats. One was Mormorguglhupf, or marble Guglgufpf. Guglgufpf is usually a yeast based cake (“-hopf” is supposed to mean yeast) although this ring shaped cake's ingredient list didn't include yeast.

According to the list, the cake sounded like simple genoise sponge. Indeed, the texture was delicate and light, just like a genoise sponge. The chocolate layer was deep chocolate-y and the yellow layer was slightly lemony. With or without yeast wasn't a matter. The cake was delicious!
