Vienna, Austria 9: Die Feinkosterei
We came back to Vienna! It was a national holiday. Almost all retail shops and some restaurants were closed. In that situation, J managed to find a fantastic place for lunch. Thank you J!! The restaurant called Die Feinkosterei served traditional Austrian cuisine in a tapas format. We ordered several dishes to share.
Both Asparagus salad with strawberries and lime dressing and Asparagus cream soup with bacon chip were wonderful. I heard that asparagus is a delicious seasonal ingredient in Austria during spring and summer. It was definitely the asparagus time!
J ordered Roasted calf's liver with boiled potatoes and Joseph bread. I am not a big fan of liver, so I enjoyed Beef Goulash with buttered dumplings. A bit salty but delicious! I think J enjoyed calf's liver, too.
Homemade spinach dumplings with green salad was like giant gnocchi. Tasty! Also, pan-fried fish and fried chicken dishes were wonderful. I liked the creamy potato salad that came along with the chicken. In fact, I liked everything!
