Salzburg, Austria 6: Restaurant S’Nockerl im Elefant
I couldn't leave Salzburg without trying Salzburger Nockerl, a traditional sweet dessert speciality in Salzburg. It's a soufflé dish, served warm. The signature shapes represents the three mountains around Salzburg: Mönchsberg, Kapuzinerberg and Rainberg. To see and taste the special dessert, we went to Restaurant S’Nockerl im Elefant at the Hotel Elefant, where is one of the famous restaurants to serve the original Salzburger Nockerl.
The mountains were huge!! Our server placed one mountain and some berry sauce under the mountains on a plate. One for me; one for J.
The soufflé mountain was amazingly fluffy and airy. Quickly melt-in-mouth. The mountain part was pretty sweet while the berry (raspberry, I guess) sauce was brightly tart. The combination was superb. I easily finished my mountain and happily had the third one.
