Linzertorte from Demel
One more treat from Demel was Linzertorte, a classic Austrian cake. I had one at Cafe Konditorei Fürst in Salzburg, which was pretty good, but I wanted to try Demel's version, too. I have a sort of passion for the jam-filled nutty torte. I have made one by myself for Christmas 2015. Luckily I had a chance to taste one by L.A. Burdick, one of our favorite chocolate/cake shops in the US, which was a surprise Valentine's gift from J (Thank you J!). Our Austria trip made my dream "Eat Linzertorte made in Austria" come true! Even twice!
In short, Demel's Linzertorte was delightful. They used red currant jam. The jam layer was modest yet it was just a right amount for the very tender and moist cake. The cake wasn't too sweet like other cakes we had.
