Salzburg, Austria 1: Gasthof Goldgasse
We also stayed in Salzburg for three days during our Austria trip. Austrian cuisine is pretty much meat-oriented while fish from the country's crystal clear lakes seems to be known as a traditional dish. When we had a lunch at a restaurant called Gasthof Goldgasse in Salzburg, I had a wonderful trout dish. Our server neatly deboned my whole grilled fish before serving. The fish came with green salad and roasted root vegetables. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious!
J had Veal Wiener Schnitzel. They were so puffy like balloons! I think he enjoyed his dish very much. The restaurant's serving portion was generous. We were too full to have desserts. I was very curious about a tart with crumble toppings on the counter. It looked like an traditional Austrian plum cake and looked lovely, but I had to save it for the next time, wishing such a time would come someday.
The restaurant was bright and cute. Our server was super cheerful and friendly. The lunch experience was fantastic!
To find the restaurant, just look for a cute yellow duck sign on Goldgasse!
Salzburg was a beautiful city, much smaller than Vienna. On the first day, we explored the Old Town, visiting the Dome (Cathedral), the DomQuartier, St Peter's Abbey, etc...
